Dear Parents and Guardians,
I am looking forward to the coming school year and am pleased to have the opportunity to work with your child. Third grade is a transitional year, bridging the gap between primary and upper elementary grades. I have established a fun yet challenging program that will help your child grow as a student and as a person.
It is very important for me to get to know your child as individuals. It would be very helpful and greatly appreciated if you took some time between now and mid-September, to write a note that will provide a little background information about your child. You might want to include strengths, areas of interest, outside activities, academic or social goals, concerns, family situations that I need to be aware of in terms of home/school communication, if your child wears glasses, etc. These notes are helpful to me and will be used for no other purpose but to help develop a program best suited to your child's individual needs, interests, and learning styles. You may send notes with your child or e-mail me at [email protected].
I would like to encourage you to become an active participant in your child's education. You can do so by supporting the school discipline policy, showing interest in your child's work, attending school functions, and helping your child accept responsibility for his/her learning and actions. Parent participation in and out of the classroom is welcomed. If you would like to help in the classroom, in the school garden, or drive on field trips, be sure to full out the parent volunteer forms as soon as possible. These forms are available from me or from the school office. Studies show that parent involvement makes a positive difference in a child's attitude and progress in school. So if you are interested, I would love to have your help!
I look forward to working with you and your child this year!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Ross
